What is AAMPLIFY?
AAMPLIFY is a free two-week summer leadership program for Asian American and Pacific Islander high school students in the San Francisco Bay Area. We combine social justice education, leadership training, and mentorship to help students develop real skills in advocacy, public speaking, and community organizing.
Who can apply?
The program is open to Bay Area Asian American and Pacific Islander high school students. We welcome students from all backgrounds and experience levels. You don’t need any prior leadership experience to participate.
How much does the program cost?
AAMPLIFY is completely free. There is no cost to attend. We also provide financial assistance to students as needed, including support for public transport costs.
When and where does the program take place?
The 2026 program runs July 20 – July 31 (Monday–Friday), from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. It takes place in-person in San Francisco. The exact location is shared with admitted students for safety reasons. Graduation is on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
When do applications open?
Applications for summer 2026 are coming soon. Follow us on Instagram to be the first to know when they open.
What will I learn?
Over two weeks, you’ll develop skills in public speaking, meeting facilitation, and community organizing. You’ll explore Asian American history — including the model minority myth and cross-racial solidarity movements — and apply your knowledge through lobby days, community presentations, and a capstone project on a topic you choose.
Is there a mentorship component?
In the past, students have been matched with young professional mentors to guide them on their careers or school development. However, this program has been temporarily paused. In its place, young professionals will be visiting AAMPLIFY’s summer program as panelists for workshops and speaker programs. Students will still have time during and after these programs to connect with speakers and discuss topics that interest them.
What happens at graduation?
Students, families, and community members come together to celebrate capstone projects and the growth students have made during the program. It’s a highlight of the AAMPLIFY experience, hosted at a community location easily accessible via public transit.
How is AAMPLIFY funded?
AAMPLIFY is 100% volunteer-run. We rely entirely on donations from generous individuals and community partners. Every dollar goes directly to programming, student support, and community building. You can donate here.
Can my employer match my donation?
Many employers offer donation matching programs. Check with your employer or search doublethedonation.com to see if your company participates.
How can I get involved as a volunteer or partner?
We’re always looking for mentors, workshop facilitators, and organizational partners. Contact us to learn more about partnering or volunteering with AAMPLIFY.
